The City of Gifhorn

The city, which originally developed around a castle, fascinates with its well-preserved old town and the impressive Gifhorn Castle. Gifhorn is also known for its International Windmill Museum, where traditional milling craftsmanship comes to life.

The city of Wittingen

The first known documentary mention of Wittingen dates back to the year 781. The town was a trading and resting place for trade in the east-west direction. Today, the city, located in the northern part of the district, harmoniously combines rural charm, historic half-timbered houses, and industrial strength. While the city center particularly invites visitors to linger in owner-operated specialty shops and cafés, the site's trimodal infrastructure provides ideal conditions for economic growth.
